Florida Attorney General Alleges Medicaid Scam By Generic Drug Makers

21.05.2008 at 00:06 - Category: Pharmacy Articles

Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist has filed a lawsuit accusing three generic drug makers of 25 million dollars in Medicaid fraud.

The companies being sued are Mylan Laboratories Incorporated, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited and Watson Pharmaceuticals Incorporated.

The lawsuit alleges that the companies inflated prices in a way that allowed pharmacies to get too much reimbursement for generic drugs.

The drugs were for depression, schizophrenia, seizures, angina and other illnesses.

The lawsuit says the companies intentionally misrepresented prices and costs. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Leon County.
